Hawaiian Crafts – Lauhala Weaving

Are you interested in learning about one of the most important plants that the Hawaiians brought with them on their migration to islands?  If so, then this class is for you!

In the days of “old”, lauhala (leaf of the hala tree) was used in many ways.  You will learn the history of the hala tree and how to use their leaves to weave.  This workshop will begin with the basics of lauhala weaving.  You will learn to make a plaited bracelet that you can make for yourself or gift it to someone for a keepsake that will last for years.  At the completion of the workshop, you will be able to create your own bracelets for future projects.
