- Frequently Asked Questions
-
Q: When and how will we know when practices will begin?
A: Parents will receive a call from the coach two weeks prior to the first day of practice.
Q: Who decides when and where practices will be?
A: Coaches and Sports Directors will decide practice days and times based on field or court availability. They also try to accommodate volunteer coach’s schedules.
Q: At what point will we find out when and where games will be?
A: Game Schedules will be prepared and issued to coaches at their coaches meeting.
Q: Can I request a specific coach?
A: No. As much as we would like to accommodate your request, all sports rosters are created in a blind draft and coaches are assigned to teams at random to keep teams fair.
Q: If I volunteer as a head coach can I select my assistant coach and have their child on my team so we can coach together?
A: No. All sports rosters are created in a blind draft and coaches are assigned to teams at random to keep teams fair. If we let the head coach select their assistant coaches and move their child to that team, it will no longer be a blind draft.
Q: Can I request certain practice days due to prior commitments/accommodate carpooling needs?
A: No. Once the team rosters a finalized, no changes may be made.
Q: I really want to coach my son or daughters team, but I do not know too much about the sport. Would I still be able to do so?
A: Yes, we always accept new volunteer coaches. We offer a coaches certification course which is paid for by the Army. The course is a one day course which last 2-3 hours and will instruct you on basic coaching techniques.
Q: Are there fitting’s for uniforms to insure I order the correct uniform size for my child?
A: Yes, there are uniforms to size for fitting at every CYS registration sight.
Q: I am a late registrar; will I still get the correct uniform size?
A: No. All late registration (add-ons) will receive remaining uniform sizes based on orders placed at the close of registration.
Q: When will we receive our uniforms?
A: Approximately one to two weeks before the start of the season.
Q: I have two children participating in this sport, may I submit a waiver for one of my children so they can play for the same team?
A: Yes, we waive younger children up to the older division (only one division) as long as the parent agrees. This request must be made at the time you register your child. Youth Sports will never waive an older child down to a lower division due to fairness and safety issues.
Q: I have two children to register, can I add both of them on to one form.
A: No, it is important for our parents to fill out one form per child.
