Gather, share, and savor delicious meals while developing your cooking skills! SGT Yano Library invites you to share your culinary journey with other aspiring chefs every last Thursday of the month from 2-4 p.m.
How it works:
Come to the SGT Yano Library and select a recipe from the themed cookbook of the month. Take your recipe home, practice preparing your dish, and bring your finished entree to the SGT Yano Library to share with fellow culinary connoisseurs.
Open to all DoD ID Cardholders & sponsored guests.

Library Accounts
Per approval of the sponsor or spouse, eligible family members may have individual library accounts. The active duty service member is responsible for all lost library materials incurred by authorized family members.
Loan Periods
- Books (no limit): 3 weeks
- DVDs (limit 10): 3 weeks
- Video games (limit 2 per console type): 3 weeks
Renewals
- Renewals must be made on or before the due date
- Every item type can be renewed up to 2 times for an extra 3 weeks each
You may renew materials that are not overdue or requested by another guest by phone (808-787-5753) or online. To renew online, go to pacific-milrec.bibliovation.com and use the forgot password link to reset your password.
Overdue Materials
There are no fines for overdue materials. Automated notices will be sent to the email associated with the library account. Courtesy notices are emailed 3 days prior to the due date. Guest will not be able to check out any more items until the overdue items are returned.
Lost, Damaged or Destroyed Items (AR 735-17 para 2-8b)
Restitution is required from the borrower when library materials are lost, damaged or destroyed while checked out to the borrower. Military and DOD civilian sponsors are responsible for losses incurred by their family members. Restitution may take the form of replacement-in-kind: an identical copy, a satisfactory reissue of the same item, or an item of the same type of medium or equal value as determined by the librarian. Library policy is to accept only new items as replacements.

How do I get a library card?
Your DOD ID or CAC is your library card. Visit the library to set up your account. Sponsor or spouse must register their eligible family members.
How do I renew items I’ve checked out from the library?
You may renew materials that are not overdue or requested by another guest by telephone (808) 787-5753; or online - go to My Account and log in with your registered email address. If you forgot your password, use the Forgot Password link to reset it.
How do I clear if I have books checked out?
In order to clear, you must return all items you and any dependents have checked out. Restitution must be made for any items that are lost or damaged before you will be cleared from the library. Only brand-new items will be accepted.
What if the item I want is already checked out?
You may place a hold on an item that that is owned by the SGT Yano or Fort Shafter Libraries. Open the record in the web catalog and click on “Place Hold” on the right-hand side of the screen. You will need to log in. You may also reserve an item by telephone (808) 787-5753.
What if the library doesn’t have the item I want?
You may suggest a purchase by clicking on the “Suggest a Purchase” link.
Does the library have study guides and practice tests?
Study guides and practice tests are available for a variety of exams to include CLEP, GED, ASVAB, SAT, ACT, and GRE. Practice tests for CLEP, DSST, and ASVAB are also available online via the DOD MWR Libraries online resources website.
Does the library have CAC enabled computers?
All public library computers have CAC readers and are available to military ID/CAC holders with library accounts. Sessions are 60 minutes each and may be extended up to 120 minutes per person per day, in 30-minute increments, as long as there is no one waiting to use a computer. Computers are automatically shut off 30 minutes before the library closes.
Does the library charge for printing?
The library charges .15¢ per page for black and white copies and .50¢ per page for color copies.
Does the library have change?
The library does not provide change for the copier or printers. The copier or printers themselves accept U.S. coins (no pennies) and $1 and $5 bills and will provide change for these denominations as long as there is sufficient change in the vending station. The vending stations do not accept debit or credit cards.
Does the library accept payment by checks, debit or credit cards?
The library does not accept any type of payment.
Does the library have Wi-Fi?
Yes, the library provides free Wi-Fi.
Does the library have a public fax machine?
The library does not have a fax machine available for public use. However, the library does have scanning capabilities so that you may scan and email your documents.
Does the library provide test proctoring services?
The library does not provide proctoring.
How do I reserve the meeting/conference room?
Visit or call the library to reserve the meeting room. The meeting room is available from 9:30 a.m. until 30 minutes before the library closes. Reservations may be made up to two months in advance.
