Time: 1:00-3:00 pm

 

Students:           Minimum: 2                      Max: 6

 

                Ages: 7 years old and up; 7-year-olds need to be accompanied by a parent

 

Cost: 2 sessions for $45.00

 

Hand building is an ancient pottery-making technique that involves creating forms without a pottery wheel, using the hands, fingers, and simple tools.  The most common hand building techniques are pinch pottery, coil building, and slab building.

 

You will learn about the basics in hand building techniques: Pinch Pottery, Coil Building, Extruder, Slabbing, Wedging, Kneading, and slipping / scoring!

All instruction and materials are included.

 

1st session: Learning and building your piece. 

2nd session: Glazing and painting the piece.

 

NOTE: You must return after the last session to pick up your completed project.

 

February 14th & 28th: Pinch Pottery

March 14th & 28th: Forming Coil pieces

April 11th & 25th: Making a piece using a slab roller

May 9th & 23rd: Slab building pieces

June 13th & 27th: String Clay basket using an extruder

July 11th & 25th: Slab wall planter
